Learn the guidelines

Many designers have non-traditional educational backgrounds, which is a good thing as they are increasingly switching to a UX career. Many new designers learn UX design by copying UIs from Dribbble and Behance. They may fall for poor UX and interaction design practices if they don't know the basics.

It is important to be familiar with the basics of design when designing for specific platforms like iOS and Android. When I'm unsure about interaction, I refer to the most well-known design systems such as Apple's Human Interface Guidelines and Google's Material Design. You will learn more about design systems and be able to identify the best components for your designs.

Make Connections

You must plant seeds if you want to grow a tree. To accelerate your career growth, it is important to plant seeds to expand your network. Use platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook Groups, or Meetup to connect with other people and take part in local events, hackathons, or conferences. Volunteering to run an event is a great way to get free admission, even if it means setting up tables or chairs.

Mentorship is a great idea

Even if you aren't in school, don't stop learning. Design is an ever-changing industry, so you always have something to learn from others.

Ask lots of questions

Similar to the previous point, it will help you find your place in your role by asking lots of questions. Imposter syndrome is something I experienced as a novice designer. This was especially true when joining a team of more experienced designers. Anxiety and fear of failure can be caused by so many unknowns.

Stay inspired

It's important to look at the work of other designers when you are in the creative industry. This is how I approach it: I look for apps I like. Mobbin and Product Hunt are two websites that can be used to inspire apps.

Keep your mind open

Successful design requires teamwork. It is your responsibility as a designer to recognize that design can be improved by other people's perspectives and thoughts. You shouldn't take criticism of your work as an attack on yourself.

Keep your eyes open and not get attached to your work. Your team still has their best interests at heart.
